I enjoy trying out new writing apps whenever I find one. Most review sites focus on well-known products such as iA Writer, Ulysses, and Byword.
Recently I’ve discovered two relatively new apps that don’t get much attention.
I was planning to try both out until I came across this review of Spaces.do. Spaces would appear to be equivalent to an under-developed Ulysses, and I am less inclined to try it now.
I’m currently trying out Minimal, which, as the name suggests, is quite simple. That’s the attraction, however.
Minimal is like Byword, an old favourite, but is still receiving attention, whereas Byword seems to have been forgotten by its developer. Not that I want to be critical of developers who leave good products alone.
The only downside to Minimal so far is it is only compatible with iOS 12 or later, Watch OS 5 and MacOS 11. My old iMac on Catalina will have to wait for a different version the developer is working on.
